Seismic Operations Scheduled by Gazprom Nedra LLC for the 2022–2023 Surveying Season Implemented in Full

On 31 May 2023, Gazprom Nedra LLC held a Regional Meeting in Kostroma, focusing on the results of the seismic explorations conducted during the 2022–2023 surveying season.

During the recent surveying season, Kostromagazgeofizika and Tomskgazgeofizika, production branches of Gazprom Nedra, completed 3D CDPM seismic surveys over a total area of over 2300 km2 within the Gazprom Group’s licenced areas in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YMAO), the Irkutsk and Amur Regions, and the Kamchatka Territory.

This was reported by Anatoly Mil, the Deputy Head of the Geophysics Exploration Department and Head of the Gazprom Nedra Field Geophysics Production Department, who emphasised the full implementation of the approved work schedule.

He noted that Gazprom Nedra LLC exploration seismologists made extensive use of innovative green seismic technology, thereby minimising human impact on the environment. The Company updated the Requirements for the technology and quality of field seismic surveys to ensure that the seismic surveys remained consistently accurate. Furthermore, company experts developed a financial and economic feasibility study and identified funding sources for the seismic structural subdivisions’ technical equipment programme.

Evgeny Nikonov, Deputy Director General of Gazprom Nedra LLC for Geophysics Exploration, highlighted that seismic exploration could be regarded as the most challenging of oil and gas industry operations, due to a variety of organisational, climatic and social factors. He praised the workforce of the company’s production branches and field crew for their ‘responsible, competent and well-coordinated’ efforts that delivered above-standard indicators for both labour efficiency and production safety.
