Gazprom Nedra Implemented Gas Condensate Production Project During Trial Production of Prospecting Wells at Kovyktinskoye Gas Condensate Field
The first consignment of gas condensate obtained at the Kovyktinskoye Gas Condensate Field (GCF) in the Irkutsk Region during prospecting wells construction was dispatched. The project was implemented by Gazprom Nedra LLC in cooperation with the dedicated production department of PJSC Gazprom and Gazprom Dobycha Irkutsk LLC.
Dispatch of the first gas condensate consignment
In 2022, four prospecting wells were commissioned for trial production at Kovyktinskoye GCF to provide additional geological information, refine field characteristics, and identify the best technological solutions for production drilling. Following these calculations, the company’s experts confirmed the economic viability of using extractable gas condensate, developed a treatment flowchart to ensure the stable state of condensate, and outlined options for selling the planned volumes of finished products. The first 25 tonnes are already dispatched to customers by specialised road transport.
Mr. Vsevolod Cherepanov, Director General of Gazprom Nedra, outlined the pioneer project specifics as follows, “This is the first monetisation of hydrocarbon liquids production during the prospecting wells trial production phase. Implementing technology to stabilise gas condensate at the prospecting well site enables its utilisation not only as fuel for further power and heat generation at the stand-alone field, but also for dispatching to external consumers in the region.”
