The document was signed as a follow-up to the Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and PJSC Gazprom concluded on June 29, 2012, to expand bilateral cooperation. It sets out priority areas for long-term partnership between the parties, promoting energy and industrial sector development and improving the environmental situation within the region. Gazprom Nedra LLC is primarily envisaged to participate in joint projects for the geological exploration and exploitation of small-scale reserves and resources of natural gas fields and exploration areas owned by both PJSC Gazprom and independent subsoil users.

These projects will contribute to developing the region’s own feedstock base for gasification of residential and industrial facilities located outside the Unified Gas Supply System, expanding the use of natural gas as motor fuel in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, reducing the adverse impact on the environment and developing the region’s social infrastructure.

Both parties also see opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in research aimed at promising areas of science and technology development, focused on improving subsoil use efficiency and developing the Russian Arctic zone, as well as information exchange on innovative projects, whose development and implementation is carried out under the state programmes.

According to Mr. Vsevolod Cherepanov, Director General of Gazprom Nedra, “Signing the agreement with Krasnoyarsk Territory is yet another important step towards establishing and expanding strategic business partnerships with Russian regions that our company has been systematically working on. We believe this document will provide a solid foundation for further actions across all the defined areas of cooperation. We hope it will contribute not only to the further development of the region’s industry, but also to expanding the use of the most environmentally friendly fuel, natural gas, across the energy sector.”

Particular benefits of transitioning industrial facilities and settlements to natural gas usage were outlined in the presentation of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Energy and Industry Development Project delivered during Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum 2023 by Oksana Bugriy, Deputy Director General for Prospective Development of Gazprom Nedra LLC. Among other things, the report points out that the substitution of brown coal for natural gas will increase the generating facilities’ efficiency by 1.5 times, reduce emissions of harmful substances by a factor of five, ensure fuel economy by an average of three times and significantly increase tax payments to the regional budget.
