Gazprom Nedra Helps Yamal Reindeer Herders
With the financial assistance of Gazprom Nedra LLC, the Administration of Taz area (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) purchased four sets of portable corrals for the reindeer farms. The charitable activity was carried out within the framework of the Social and Economic Cooperation Agreement between the company and the community.

The corrals are used to implement zootechnic and preventive veterinary activities. These light portable structures allow reindeer herders to implement timely vaccination and quality estimation irrespective of the migration routes.

“The current number of reindeers totals to over 250 thousand heads. Our meetings with reindeer herders show the need for corrals of this type: they are easy to move, install and dismantle in the tundra. Each one can accommodate up to a thousand animals at a time,” said Viktor Yugay, Head of the Taz Area, thanking the company for its contribution to preserving the traditional way of life of the indigenous minority peoples of the North.
