Gazprom Nedra started exploration at new license areas of PJSC Gazprom in Western and Eastern Siberia
3D common depth point (CDP) seismic surveys have been started by Gazprom Nedra LLC at the Sopochny subsoil area of federal significance in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO) and at the Mamyr subsoil areas in the Irkutsk Region. Research is being carried out by the Company's production affiliates (Tomskgazgeofizika and Kostromagazgeofizika) in order to detail the geological structure and clarify the resource potential of the areas licensed by PJSC Gazprom at the end of 2019.
The volume of the planned research at the Sopochny area (Gydan Peninsula, Tazovsky District, YaNAO) is 780 sq. km of high-density wide-azimuth seismic survey.
The plot area of 3D CDP seismic surveys at the Mamyr areas located in the Bratsky, Ust-Udinsky, Nizhneilimsky and Ust-Ilimsky districts of the Irkutsk Region is 1,407 sq. km.
To implement projects in the Sopochnoye and Mamyrsky areas, two field parties with a total number of 360 people, more than 90 units of tracked and wheeled vehicles, 20 domestic-made vibration sources, and about 37,000 channels of seismic recording equipment were involved. The work is planned to be completed in the 2022–2023 field season.
“The entry of seismic surveyors to new license areas is always a difficult and demanding task, the performance of which determines in the future the correct choice of locations for exploration and prospecting and appraisal wells, the overall efficiency of geological exploration and the successful protection of hydrocarbon reserves prepared for development. The divisions of our Company specialising in exploration geophysics have extensive experience in conducting field studies in various regions of the country using new technologies and the most modern methods,” — said Vsevolod Cherepanov, General Director of Gazprom Nedra LLC.
