Gazprom Nedra Hosted an Open Weightlifting Tournament
On June 23, competitions under the Open Weightlifting Tournament were held in Novy Urengoy, organised by the Severgazgeofizika Production Branch (PB) of Gazprom Nedra LLC. The event was conducted and managed with the support of the Primary Trade Union of the branch.
This year, the competition focused on two power lifting disciplines. Open-weight juniors (under 23 years old), open-weight women, and men in five weight categories competed in the bench pressing discipline; open-weight juniors (under 23 years old), open-weight women and men competed in the dead lift.
Overall, 51 athletes, including employees of Gazprom Nedra LLC, Gazprom Production Yamburg LLC, Gazprom Production Urengoy LLC, and individual athletes representing the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area took part in the tournament.
The best bench pressing results among the Gazprom Nedra LLC athletes were achieved by Igor Sapezhinsky from PB Vuktylgazgeofizika, who was placed 4th in the under 93 kg category, and Andrei Lunegov, an employee of the Gazprom Nedra NTTs (Science and Technology Centre) branch, who was placed 4th in the under 105 kg category. In addition, Andrei Lunegov also featured as runner-up in the deadlift competition. The competition winners received certificates, medals, cups and gifts.

This marked the second consecutive year of the Gazprom Nedra LLC Open Weightlifting Tournament in Novy Urengoy. Andrei Ulasevich, the Head of PB Severgazgeofizika, stressed that “The company strives to actively support all kinds of sports events because sports promote a healthy lifestyle, develop individuality, and foster team spirit among coworkers. This tournament is a way to support the sports initiatives of Gazprom Nedra employees and weightlifting athletes from across the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.”
