Gazprom Nedra conducted a meeting to discuss the further development of Geomod, the Russian manufactured software package
The first joint geological and technical meeting was held in Tyumen to discuss the use, development and further implementation of the Geomodeling software package, developed by Gazprom Nedra specialists, in the PJSC Gazprom production subsidiaries.
In addition to the management and specialists of Gazprom Nedra LLC, the meeting was also attended by representatives of the major gas producing enterprises, heads of software operators and developers within the PJSC Gazprom system, who use or plan to use the Geomod package, or have contributed to the development of specific tools within the software product.

Reports from both Gazprom Nedra specialists and organizations already using the software were up for discussion during the meeting. Sergei Ivanov, lead developer and one of the pioneers of the Geomod software package, and Department Head of Digital Product Development at the Gazprom Nedra Center for Geological Research and Special Work, delivered a report on the operational aspects of the Geomod package and plans for its further development.

Representatives of Gazprom Dobycha Urengoy LLC and Gazprom Dobycha Yamburg LLC spoke of their experience in using the Geomod software suite at their facilities and proposed several new applications and enhancements to the package’s operational aspects. Meanwhile, their colleagues from Gazprom Dobycha Nadym LLC shared their experience of installing and rolling out Geomod, this process enabled the company to maintain operations and preserve the integrity of sensitive data following the market withdrawal of international vendors seen after 2021. Working together with colleagues from the ITC of Gazprom Dobycha Nadym LLC, Gazprom Nedra specialists conducted extensive work to adapt Geomod’s database to negotiate the rigours of field development analysis.
The report by Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC highlighted the use of Geomod in planning production programs for the PJSC Gazprom well stock and author's supervision for field development projects. Particular emphasis was placed on the strong synergistic effect of using a unified information environment based on Geomod databases across all user companies.
In closing the meeting, Alexander Trusov, Deputy General Director and Chief Geologist of Gazprom Nedra LLC, emphasized that the Geomodeling software package is a fully domestic, innovative solution that enables the construction of detailed geological models for large gas fields and underground storage facilities. He also highlighted that “the continued rapid and consistent development of Geomod and its modernization to serve the needs of PJSC Gazprom and other enterprises of the Russian fuel and energy sector, requires joint efforts and coordination from all stakeholders”.

With this objective in mind, it was decided to establish a coordination committee to further develop the Geomodelling software package. This committee comprises specialists from the companies and organizations that were represented at the meeting; the committee’s objective is to establish the priorities required to enhance the operational efficiency of the software package.
